Free Entitlement Funding & Consumables
New government guidance requires all nurseries offering funded places to clearly explain any charges for meals, consumables, and additional services. At Happi Feet Nursery, we believe in transparent pricing that reflects the quality of care and education we provide.
What Your Government Funding Covers
Government funding provides a basic Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) provision that meets statutory requirements. This includes standard staffing ratios and basic educational resources.
What Government Funding Does Not Cover
Government funding does not cover the cost of food, nappies, wipes, sun cream, or the delivery of enhanced experiences and activities.
At Happi Feet Nursery, we pride ourselves on a warm, welcoming environment with nutritious meals, healthy snacks, fresh milk, and engaging activities. To continue providing this high level of care during funded hours, we apply a consumables charge.
Our Consumables Charges
Our general consumables charge is broadly calculated at £1.10 per hour of the funded hour when applied to a “stretched offer”.
However, for Term-Time, Funded-Only sessions, the applicable consumables are charged at the following set daily rates:
- 15 Hours: 2 Days (9:00am – 4:30pm) = £5.50/day
- 15 Hours: 5 Days (9:00am – 12:00pm or 12:15pm – 3:15pm) = £3.30/day
- 30 Hours: 4 Days (9:00am – 4:30pm) = £5.50/day
- 30 Hours: 5 Days (9:00am – 3:00pm) = £5.50/day
Option 1: Fully Inclusive Care (Opting In)
By opting into the applicable consumables charge (either the £1.10/hour or the specific term-time daily rate), your child enjoys the complete Happi Feet experience without interruption. Your child will receive:
- All nutritious meals, healthy snacks prepared daily.
- Nappies, wipes, creams, sun protection, tissues, emergency care items
- Full access to all our engaging additional activities, resources, and enhanced provisions.
Option 2: Streamlined Care (Opting Out)
We reserve some spaces specifically for families who cannot afford the consumables. You have the complete freedom to opt out of the consumables charges entirely, including the term-time daily rates listed above. Choosing to opt out means you will receive a “Streamlined Care” package, providing your funded hours completely free of charge.
If you choose the Streamlined Care (Opt-Out) option, please note:
- You will be offered a Funded-Entitlement-Only place, accessing the basic EYFS provision.
- Parents must provide all packed meals and snacks for their child’s day in accordance with our policy on nutrition. (This must be brought in at snack time and Lunch time).
- Parents must supply their own daily consumables, including nappies, wipes, and sun cream.
No additional private hours will be allowed.
Accessing these funded-only sessions depends on the type of funding you receive. They are structured into two distinct pathways:
- 15-Hour Funding: Two full days per week, from 9:00 to 16:30.
- 30-Hour Funding: Four full days per week, from 9:00 to 16:30.
